Ethan Lowder
Hey Su, what is the best kind of lead tape to make your swimbait sink faster?
chefchris
I like the storm suspend strips but I’m adding it to the hook shanks, then I cover it with a piece of shrink tubing. golfers lead tape from any sporting good store is what a lot of guys use as well. zappu makes some nice ones too. dqb, aholodnick, Ethan Lowder and 5 others 6

reelsimple
Zappu board weights. Curious, does the weighted hooks hinder from them being tucked under the belly when swimming the lure?
Ethan Lowder
That is a good question!

Great tip with the shrink wrap. I use the Storm strips although they tend to peel back a bit on my TK's when I'm using an aggressive retrieve. Codyc
You can call your local golf store or order a roll off line too
bassbass
I use the storm as Chris mentioned. I like the idea of the shrink wrapping but I do like to tear some off as needed as the water temperature changes.
Ethan Lowder
How much does water temperature actually effect it?
bigpoppabass
Can't get any of this to stick when using glides, the hooks eventually strip off the tape. Even tried sealing em on with crazy glue.

azfisher
Here in my hot climate, the adhesive softens and I've had the hookpoint catch in between the adhesive and the lead on the Sus. Strips and peel the strip back and eventually off. Especially if I stack the lead to get more weight. I have to keep pushing it back down and at some point replace. The 185 islides I tried to suspend eventually pull off an edge then it is downhill from there. I think it is hook tip scraping this edge. Last year the water was mid 90's, I think 96. So I may start off with one strip and then as the season gos on I may end with a half of strip. Do not worry about this, just get your bait the sink rate you like and fish it.
Ethan Lowder
Okay man that’s good to know. Yeah l’ll just get it to the sink rate I like it. Thank you!
