I add lead tape to the belly of the bait to get it to sink a bit. I use various retrieves. - burn and pause. - slow steady retrieve to get it to glide back and forth - with an occasional pause. - slow retrieve with a few twitches of the reel handle. - slow retrieve with an occasional sweep of the rod - like a fleeing bait fish.
