After taking a couple of months off from fishing my buddy finally convinced me to get out a few times the past week. Yesterday we decided to try out a spot that he had never fished and I had only fished once. I really wanted a top water bite so I was fishing a Wade Hoggs and the Monka x SU Crawler. After an hour or two my friend landed a fish on his 316 workhorse. We were both stoked as he's been trying to get bit on that for a while. With that bite I was inspired to glide around a TK. We spent a lot of time fishing around lily pad clusters, shoreline, and islands. I found a current break that was leading into one of the islands. We went around the backside and I tossed my TK up the current. I worked the bait erratically through the current with a couple pauses once it was parallel to the island. On the second pause the bait got smoked and I set into it. The bass was peeling drag trying to get under some bushes but I managed to keep her out. We forgot the net so I was forced to boat flip it with my 7'3 rod. I was jaw dropped after seeing this fish on the bottom of my jon boat. The fish ended up going six pounds six ounces at about 22 inches, being my biggest of the year. This was also my first big fish on the TK in B mode which was a huge confidence boost. It's good to be back.6 points

That looks like a 1 1/2 inch, .092 ss screw that I get from LPO. I had searched online for others suppliers and found some on Ebay a little cheaper than LPO by wasn't convinced of their quality. You should have no problems with these screws as I would think a hook or ring will fail before the screw would. Not sure where you can get Slammer sized screws. If you want Neil I can mail you a few screws to check out yourself, pm me your add if interested.5 points

Finally happened! a DD PB at 10.5lbs/26". When she took drag I thought I didn't lock it down but nope, just big mama saying she's not having any of it. And I was silly enough to actually tried to boat flip her. Luckily rod didn't break. Still shocked since I only broke my PB this spring at 9.3lbs. It's true, a DD is a different class of fish...it spilling over my measuring board! Huge thanks to buddies who's been cheering me on throughout this journey - you know who you are! And big shout out to #2facedwakinggil!4 points

New LMB PB

It isn’t much compared to some of the trophy chasing sticks on SU, but it sure as hell felt glorious when i set the hook into her and flipped her on the bank. She went 6.21lb on the scale. After what felt like an eternity, the day finally came where I can call a different LM my PB. She choked the 7” WCZ Citizen, using a LDC H production. The Citizen suffered a small nose tear. A novice move on my end cause i forgot to run a toothpick through the spring. I normally use mend it, but decided to try the melting method. Portable kit to carry or mainly use at home. Melt it then paint a layer of mend it after it cools.3 points -

Bluegill Shine Glide eater

Hung my shad-colored Shine Glide on an underwater bush a few weeks ago, replaced it with the bluegill-colored one. Went to a murky pond I hadn't fished in a couple years today, stuck a 3.59. I can't say enough about the Shine Glide specifically, and Savage Gear in general. Great company putting out some inexpensive swimbaits that get bit. And the paint jobs are amazing imo (though I haven't seen any brand name baits/paint jobs up close, so I can't compare it to anything).3 points -

Knew it was a good one when she said she couldn't turn her "cranker". Then her motherly instinct kicked in while taking a photo and tried to hold it like a baby. She had some giants come off but got this one on Roger Vang's wake bait. Her 1st time bass fishing.2 points

State Record Bass Question
NEbucketmouth19 reacted to Mossypumpkin for a topic
Same here in Maine. Would never stick a 12lber to break the record, but if I did she would go back immediately after pics. A 15 year old fish doesn’t deserve to go out suffocating in the bottom of someone’s boat just get your name on a list. And the odds of getting a warden out to get an official weight would be zero to none. I’ve reported a guy who said he was gonna shoot me for fishing “near” his dock.....they never sent a warden.1 point -

Some Booty Shaker fish...
El_Weruso reacted to 168 Rookie for a topic
I don't see much talk about the Jenko Booty Shaker, prolly cuz it's cheap ($8.99 for a 2-pack of 7"), but man that thing has been doing some work for me the past couple trips. Overnight though, haven't gotten bit on it during the day. Smaller of these fish is 3.5, larger is 5.47. Cheaper soft bait alternative that gets bit, for any budget fisherman like me.1 point -

Finally picked this up again and started messing with them. Took them for a last swim before I let them go. I'm keeping two. One is going to be turn into a wake bait and another is a slow sink but on a retrieve it float up to the top and throws a wake. At first I didnt like it but while test swimming it, it got crushed. Haha not big but for its size, he has some fight in him. The other three are slow sink.1 point
