Battles Shad in Winter?
LUV-2-CATCH'EM and 12 others reacted to Tinos240 for a topic
I have bottom bounced em slow like a hudd, found some fish on a point and i would let sink all the way down and reel up through grass it felt like and as soon as it came loose from the grass they smoked it, it was a super light tick but they inhaled it, caught five fish on the same exact spot piled up all around 5lbs, fun as hell!13 points -

LOST AND FOUND "depps 250"
Tangaroo215 and 2 others reacted to Trusavage for a topic
I was able to return a couple found baits to their original owners, luckily through word of mouth. It's usually the regulars at the lake who do the finding and the losing , too bad a couple of them who consistently recover them strictly live by the finder's keeper's moto. I think Finding an awesome or expensive lure is cool, but how cool would it be if you reunited a fellow swimbaiter with "the the one that got away!" , maybe the bait they caught they're P.B.on! Baits and gear still coming! @biggfeast is doing a custom bait as well. Thank you all who have donated and entered the raffle!3 points

A little clip Tom made of one of many fish caught this day. If ya notice the reeling before the hook set, it what was needed this day to get the hook in the fish. All day long the bass would just eat the Dream Smasher 6" Shad and swim towards deeper water. We missed a few fish in the wind but over all it was a great outing. Old footage but he is now sorting thru tons of footage.2 points -

I got an invite out to the river with a local guide to chase river monsters. Have Clayton a call and off we went. Managed to hook into an early season momma that couldn’t resist the Sly Guy Lures Replica Trout. She stayed pinned courtesy of the Straight Braid Customs assist hooks! This is a great way to kick off the dust of the winter months and kick things into high gear! Ready for one hell of a productive year!2 points -

This is prob the best swimming/coolest lookin/most memorable bait I own. I had a SS 11” as part of my very first collection close to 15 years ago. Sold it but regretted it a lot. Ended up finding this floater and it’s killer. If anyone has an el grande, hmu!2 points -

Braid split ring
Pike Minnow Prince reacted to Kyearsley for a topic
I saw a couple different versions of these so i figured i’d try to tie some up with some braid i had lying around. I get about 2 more rotations than regular split rings and i couldnt pull them apart by hand, so i think ill stay with them unless any problems come up. Anyone else try this? Should i post some intructions?1 point -

A few recent wakes/swimmers...
DoomDiver reacted to KCS Custom Lures for a topic
A few more since I posted. Not all are swimbaits. Mag squarebills (Wooden, 4" and 1.5 oz), 4" wooden wake(1st pic) as well as my new mini mag lipless for surf, casting from a boat or jigging (3" and 3oz). I make a bigger lipless that's 5.5" and 4 oz. All of these have been catching largies, pike, musky, stripers, around the US. Can't wait until Spring rolls around to see what else they catch. Thanks for looking.1 point -

Philosophy
Trusavage reacted to danthefisherman for a topic
"Swimbait or Die" - BABC It may sound arrogant/foolish to some, but for me it's all about the pursuit of bass with swimbaits as my dedicated tool of choice. 100% agreed that swimbaits are not always the best choice to catch fish, but it makes the reward seem greater if you commit to throwing them even when it's hard to. It's a greater personal accomplishment I guess...I've really experienced this by making my own baits. Nothing about my swimbaits makes them any more special than any other baits out there necessarily, but all the labor and planning and pain I put into them makes catching a fish on them WAY more special. It's to the point where I can't put my own baits down even when I see a giant fish in front of me and I know she'd eat a big crank, spinnerbaits, or even live bait for that matter! That being said, I think it really depends on why you fish. Is it about the journey and the struggle or just the end result of catching fish? Neither is a wrong motive to have, but some care more about how they achieve their goals rather than how effectively/quickly they can do so. My thinking is that if catching trophy bass is all that mattered, then there should be no difference between tossing a swimbait during prespawn and throwing a live bluegill at a bedding bass during the spawn. For me personally, I'll stick with swimbaits. I may miss the fish of a lifetime doing so, but at least I won't have any regrets of catching her on something else.1 point
