  1. With the new rules I wanted to make sure everything was covered so here’s the full uncut video! 7.02 lbs on the Deps 250. I suspect this won’t hold for long but it’s my first qualifying fish for a SU tournament so I’m pretty stoked pics to come! IMG_6838.MOV

  4. Tagged these two largies on the glide while targeting stripers. Both hit near relatively shallow submerged trees after I gave the bait two sharp twitches with the reel handle. I also managed to hook into two stripers throughout the day, but they both managed to shake off. Slowly but surely building my confidence in glides!

  6. No giants but had one in the 10 range follow. Several over 4 though. All on a big glide. Tried a new lake I had never even seen had good action despite the unusual conditions. Big cold front after record highs for this time of year.Water is usually mid 50s now and it’s upper 60s so not ideal for big ones my experience but great for numbers. Good news should be a fall bite into December.

Hudd would definitely do the the trick. Get an rof 5 and mod it so that its almost suspending at the level of where you see the bigs. Should be money

  13. Been grinding hard for pike this past month. After going out just about everyday I finally caught one. Even though this is a small pike it made all of the lost baits, missed bites and frozen hands worth it. Hopefully I can find a 30+" next

  14. Alright SU it’s rumor time. What I’m about to post here is only rumor but I mentioned it in another post and it seems to garner some interest so I am moving the discussion it to this thread for purposes of discussing these rumors. Recently Diawa has released their new Tatula 300 size real obviously catering towards the swim bait market. About a month ago someone I know who has contacts in Shimano and they told me Shimano is going to bring back the Curado 300 for “You swimbait guys.” A month later we see the new Tatula 300. If you know anything about how Diawa and Shimano work they usually trade blows back and forth on reels. A lot of it has to do with price point and being able to offer an alternative at a similar or better price. My source told me that Shimano’s plan was to specifically cater to “Us” with the Curado 300 and push the Tranx for the salt water guys. A move that has more to do with price points than anything else. If you take a Tranx and eliminate all of the extra bells and whistles that make it saltwater capable you can drop the price point and compete or out compete the Tatula 300. About three years ago when the Curado k dropped this same source told me shimano had plans to expand the Curado line up vastly and use the well known and respected name to create a wide range of models under that badge. Since then we have seen all of that come to fruition and continue with shimanos release of the Curado MGL today. So my source has been pretty good over the last couple of years and I wouldn’t expect it to be any different in regards to a new Curado 300. This is really all I have for now. I will continue to update this thread as I get more information and if you guys hear anything let us know! Thanks SU!

I can't relate to that kind of visibility, 5' is super clear for me, but if the bigger fish are showing themselves on the glides over the trees then I'd definitely swim a soft bait in those trees. My personal choice of soft swimbait is the Yunique scouts and G2 since they are weedless but have a very good hookup ratio.

  41. Came across this video by salt strong and thought it was really cool. Ill definitely be doing some testing with this method and ill let you know how strong it is. If your used to braid, tying these is really easy. I put some on a 262 because I fish that bait a lot this time of year. Mine are rigged on 80lb braid to st66. From my initial testing the knot seems very strong and im sure you could also modify the knot by adding a sd jam or something above the overhand knots for even more strength. I was able to get tons of spins out of them before they locked up, see video. Feel free to chime in and let me know your thoughts. IMG_1529.MOV

  42. I officially called the season over on my IG account Oct.29. The temps were dropping and i was on a three session skunk without even moving a fish. @Mossypumpkin contacted me and insisted that there was still a few weeks left for some topwater action and gave me a couple retrieval tips. Sure enough i went out Nov. 1st and stuck a 4-6. Few days later i bank flipped two more over 4lbs. Fast forward to last night , i had my best session with numbers. Went 5 for 8 with the biggest going 5-1. This morning produced another pair of 4 pounders. All fish caught with the Monka FP. Thanks Jesse for the motivation.

    Rod for deps 250

I use the daiwa dx xh for the 250 which works for me but isn’t the best.. I feel like its under powered on the cast and fighting a big fish but it gets the job done. I think the xxh might be too much of a pool queue so the 867 is def the best budget rod for what you’re looking for but if you need to get by and money isn’t the issue do not hesitate on that dx

    Fishing beaches

Believe it or not structure isn’t the only thing fish relate to... beaches can be extremely good on sunny days later in the afternoon. Seems like the fish treat it just like sun bathing. Cold mornings and later in the day the fish will move right up. Multiple instances where I’ve seen giants up shallow on beaches just cruising in the sunlight. No wind preferably.

  45. Fish brains the worst. I love messing with people tho. They get mad when I make some crazy claim, like I had a pair of football smallies, I posted it was in a tidal stream. Or that I caught a king salmon in a pond, closest king salmon spot is 5.5 hours away. People thought I was serious

  46. Lots of good grade calico on the TT stubby. It’s very fun swimming this bait and watching aggressive calicos wolf pack and push each other off in its wake. Then the biggest one inhales. If you haven’t tried fishing a TT for calico yet, you’re missing out!

  48. Fish here in Washington hit 23 and then just grow out lol. I love the Orochi Leviathan its amazing, prefer it over my dobyns and loomis, the full cork has me by the heart lol. I've thrown up to the pizz wake trout on it and that was doable. Wish I had about 4 more of these rods. Brent you are such a slayer my dude, I wanna grow up and be just like you minus the Arizona cardinals lol
