Big morning!!
BassJunkie and 9 others reacted to Ipleadthefish2 for a topic
Hey y'all!! Day off today. Went out to the spot, and had a very nice morning. Got there about 9am. 80 degreesish.. NO wind. NO sun. Rain on the horizon. 5 fish. 3 dinks and 2 tanks.. All on the Slyguy 5.9 wake in Crappie. I was tossing it up as shallow as I could on the opposite bank and bringing it out deep. The first big one was 6lbs. When she hit, I set the hook and my reel popped out of the reel seat - That was a mess!! LOL. Ended up landing her and 2 cast later stuck an 8.5. She hit it way out in the middle of the deep water. Havent caught a big fish in a looooooong time.. Feels good. Thanks SU10 points -

Swimbait storage / bank fishing carrying options
DrewManFishing and 4 others reacted to Dirty Diesel for a topic
Get a backpack, get a bait wrap, throw about five or six baits in it. Throw in your scale, your measuring board, line cutters, lure retriever, pliers, split ring pliers, heavy duty cutters in case you need to cut a hook and go beat the bank5 points -

Months of testing later...
Thiskidlikes2fish and 2 others reacted to rwp for a topic
For the past two months I have been fishing the prototype of this rod almost exclusively. Starting in August these will be available. 7'10" with a 3/4-3oz lure rating and a fully parabolic action. I have pushed it well past its limits and have numerous fish pull over 15lbs of drag with the rod completely bent into a U. It's been dragged it against more bridge pilings than I can count, slammed around in my kayak, accidentally caught the tip on things I have been paddling by, and have had 30lb mono broken off by fish on structure a bunch of times. Designed for big cranks and small hard baits, it will cast a 3oz lure into the next county. Also work's great as a live bait rod. Here's a shot of the action at ~12lbs of drag and a teaser of the first production rod. All top quality components. Fuji corrosion control Light KW guides with alconite inserts, Fuji reel seat, high density EVA grips, even Fuji thread.3 points -

First Illude Fish: OD Green Gas Rat
DrewManFishing and 2 others reacted to SumoNinja for a topic
Never had a hit this quick, this deep out in open water. No structure except riprap bottom. Usually I get hit about a third or more into the retrieve. I'd guess it was 20-25 ft of water. Barely one or one and a half reel turns to reel in the slack and got hit. Fish must've been suspended or already close to the surface around baitfish idk. Got 2 this trip, one on the ufo crankdown but the video was too dark. Both fish had no fight in them. I literally stopped reeling because I thought they spit the baits which is weird for this time of year with the warm water. QUIK_20210722_231440.mp43 points -

I think everyone should by now. I think we should reach out to the county attorney and see if they would be interested in this case. I bet with the money totals for all us they would be interested in this case. Also I hope SU has banned all the IP address associated with tackle.ninja, Chase, & connely1255 dude and all ip connected to those.3 points -

Is the Curado 200K enough
Jusbayz and one other reacted to brootalititties for a topic
You can make it work yes. It’s just going to put you at a few disadvantages, the 2 big ones being line capacity and cranking power. Especially with 20lb test you’re going to be casting most of your spool off on a bomber which is going to make you’re inches per turn (how much you’re line/bait is moving with each handle turn) pretty inconsistent. Depending on your style of fishing this may or may not be an issue but it’s definitely something to account for cause it’ll affect the action of your bait. Second thing is cranking power or torque or whatever you wanna call it. Everything about the 200 (gears, spool, handle) are all smaller compared to a 300 or 400 size reel so overall you just have to work harder. Again, depending on your fishing style this may or not be an issue but for high resistance baits like crankdowns/burning swimmers or even just general chuck and wind all day it can be a little bit more labored. But those are all things you can deal with so it’s not a “must have” but it is a downgrade IMO. I throw small swimmers and wake baits up to 2 oz on a 200 size reel because I think it casts better and I fish them slow so the loss of power is not that noticeable. 100-102mm handle helps as well for the extra leverage2 points -

Unclefish4life reacted to ReidAngling for a topic
I fish this river every year for striper, these are landlocked fish in Tennessee. I've seen fish +50lb in this river, a lot of people use live bait to fish for them but it's way more fun to target them with the swimbaits.1 point -

Jusbayz reacted to Bassjam2000 for a topic
The bigger problem will be that loaded with a .40mm line an average cast will easily empty 50 to 75% of the line and you will have to adjust your reeling speed accordingly as your retrieval rate could fluctuate 30% or more during a given cast.1 point -
Swimbait storage / bank fishing carrying options

I have 2 of the four pocket SU wraps, 1 SU union bait wrap and 1 SU single bait wrap. All of them are awesome. I also have the Plano wrap and it works great too. I use hook covers to keep the hooks from snagging the wraps1 point -

Swimbait underground makes the best wraps, but they’re $60-$65. Plano makes one that hold even more baits (lower quality), but it’s only $251 point -

First one didn't really go through? Finished this last weekend, swims better then I ever expected! A couple things were rushed like the paint and the clear but I cant help it when I get close to finished one to rush. Trying different things on some of these first builds, fun to experiment, I like the brush tail and the back fin sticks out of the water at rest.1 point -

Making baits is fun, catching fish on them is fun. The more you do, the better you will become. Be your own best critic, as no one will test them as you will. Once you get the action you want, then start better cosmetics, cuz people are visual and spoiled, ha,ha. Fish are just looking for Food.1 point
