Looking for Hinkle Shad
Bassboydave and one other reacted to 185vsfrog for a topic
Looking to trade for a Hinkle Shad. Preferably Pizz painted and no perch colors please. Have baits to trade. 8 inch HPH, Psycho Gill, OG 250 Natty, and other stuff. Hinkle shad is the only trade I’m looking for but will hear cash offers for these baits as well. Let me know what you got. Trades with reputable members only. Thanks2 points -
Another cold and windy day. Hooked up with @captainhookset who was nice enough to come share the misery with me. Storm Arashi Glide was the ticket for me again. Four healthy fish. Best one went 3.5lbs and had one of the most abnormally large tails I’ve seen on a fish that size. Solid day considering the wacky weather we’ve had over the last 2 days.2 points

Dobyns 867 or 908?
bassfiend72 and one other reacted to stkbass for a topic
I wouldn't use the 867 for jig hooks if I had others options. The 867 is good for trebled baits up to about 5oz for me. Will it work yes but not ideal. You'll get the small ones but might lose the giants. I prefer the 908 for jig hooks. I have both rods. But it really depends on the line and hooks you are using. Match the line and hooks to the rod and it can work. Either rod will work for the 250 and hinkle shad. It kinda just depends on preference.2 points -

Had my skunk pic already picked out since it's been such a grind getting fish to commit and not just hitting the tail. I decided to downsize and switch to a jig hook to see if I could get one to take and it worked. Not the biggest but it beats skunking.2 points -

Project Boat - 16’ Whaler
basskickinrednick and one other reacted to tHeINFamoUS for a topic
Fall gets here, I’m ready for paint but now I’m chasing the sun and heat. Had a lucky run of 70* weather in November so I tent this thing up and went to town. Prime, sand, repeat, three times. Seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Paint, sand, paint. And here’s where she is today, well almost, that was after the first coat….but third coat went on and it looks the same….minus some nasty drip marks. In the next couple months I’ll be rolling on a floor coating and starting the re-rig. And possibly building some casting decks. The can of worms never ends. Thanks for following along the whaler saga. Hopefully there’s other boat geeks out there that dig this kinda stuff.2 points -
Soft Serve Trout
Mason and one other reacted to danthefisherman for a topic
Well this has definitely been one of those back burner projects, but I'm finally turning the heat up again on this soft trout. Initial rough cuts really de-motivated me because I hated the way it was looking, but my curiosity to see if this tail design will work brought this carve back to my attention after almost a year of it collecting dust. Modifed the gill plates and continued chopping away and it looks much better already. I also ordered some jig hooks during the black Friday sales, so now I'm committed2 points -

PB on a SB 4/21/18
Soggybread6 reacted to Secondshiftlures for a topic
I caught my pb swimbait fish on one of my glide baits when I took it out before painting. This fish came in at 5.8lb. I caught it on the Guadalupe River in gin clear water. It was overcast and just windy enough to break up the surface of the water. I made a long cast at the end of a weed line and slowly worked it in. The whole cast I thought I could see a follower. As it got closer I could see it was decent. It followed it all the way up to the side of my kayak and nosed up to the side of the bait. I had about 6ft of line out just holding the bait enough to keep it suspended in front of the fish. I twitched the bait just slightly a couple times and after what felt like an eternity it sucked it in sideways. I am pretty shocked that I was able to land it especially given the undersize hooks I had on it at the time. I ended up catching 2 more fish that were 4-5lb this same weekend on this lure. Here is the same lure with its current paint job.1 point -
7” Shad
Staogtepi reacted to Ryan_Domingos for a topic
This is my first swimbait ever. Attempting to create a 7” shad glide. I already have so much time into this master. Roughly 15 hours of clay sculpting. Happy with how it’s coming along. Keep you guys posted!1 point -

What do you guys think of this? Slow sink. Wiggles and falls perfectly straight Colorado spins like hell when you retrieve it. Always gets bit in the fall or when I pause the retrieve. Im an artist I should probably figure out how to paint baits better.. I’ve made a few of these and they are pretty bit in my local zones. I want to make a couple for the salt. I feel like calicos might scarf it falling down kelp stringers or at boiler rocks.1 point
