Smaller than my last one

I've been working on the paint skills every weekend. Clear coat being perfect 1st try has been my Bane but a little wet sanding and a 2nf coat clears most stuff up. Just a little more time consuming to be close to perfect.

I have lots of ideas for paint, but trying to get them to look how I want has been a little bit of a learning curve.

Here some finished baits. I took a few out this weekend and caught fish on my wake and on my crank down. Paint and clear has not changed the actions at all which is awesome.

I've also been tinkering with some glow in the dark paints, people who have perfected that have some skills, it sucks to spray and takes for ever to dry. I have 2 baits one needs clear and but cool to see the scales glowing.

Also resigned the tail at the urging of a few buddies. Makes for a cleaner bait to tail transition and seems to fit the profile a bit better.

Sprayed some stuff today. Local cat wanted an all red wake, but that's boring so I added some black scaloni g and some black splatter paint.

Messing around trying to get good bluegill type paint scheme going but I have to order more colors, but free handed some Gill lines on a bait.

Also tried my hand at a trout paint job, I think it came out pretty good for a 1st try.

They are on the rotisserie so tomorrow I can probably assemble them.

Got some new paints coming and looking to dial in on a few patterns I can keep consistent.

Probably stick with  crappie/perch/bluegill/trout patterns until I can progress through those.

I have a few baits out and about and the only negative feedback  so far has been the same 3 things (small things).

Make sure the eyes aren't hazy(I think the glue is off gassing), clean up the edges of the lips(simple step I missed), and obviously get the clear coat perfect if I want to get a good price for them. All 3 of those things are semi easy to clean up. And none effect the swim.

KBS has been easy to use, except it's been inconsistent. Probably doesn't help that it's still 100+ degrees in my garage still causing the stuff to dry to quickly causing air bubbles.

Anyways here is the finished trout patterns, pretty dang happy with it!

Yeah man! That's not bad for feedback. You all have some big bass down in AZ. I remember fishing in Phoenix after my sister's wedding and being impressed with how big the bluegill were, only to see a big bass busting those same gills up against the bank!

Paint is looking great! Nice touch on the red one, and the trout looks very trouty!

I was poking around online and found this old article about painting a realistic bluegill.

That's a pretty good article I think I've seen that one before. Ive posted one here also somewhere.

The problem isn't the painting of the bait, the problem is not good enough with the airbrush yet. Lots of control, pressures, angles, paint types etc.

Got to dial that all in and then it will all mesh. I've only had the airbrush since father's day, so just trying to set aside a little time every week to rip through a few new paints, angles, pressures has been the goal.

New paint on the way to try and get a few schemes I can replicate is the new goal!

Working on my bluegill paint game. Tomorrow I'll try a crappie, then get dialed in on the scaling for the bluegill, smaller scale pattern would be a little better.

My first one I painted today, the sepia shot out of the airbrush all crazy and I couldn't fix it. I had to add an additional line to each side of the bait, if that did t happen then it would have been perfect. Still learning but better and better every paint session.

Update on my baits. Been selling for $75 TYD if anyone is interested, hit me up on here or Instagram. Not going crazy on the building process, still single pours one by one!

People are catching fish and good fish on the wake especially over the past few weeks.

One of my paints that I thought was kinda just ehh, has been slaying for @Jim137a and multiple other people have asked for the same bait with the same colors/pattern. Black head yellow/green/orange body. East coast fish are different then desert fish apparently!

The more and more I paint the better my transitions and detailing has become 2.5 months with the airbrush you sure can gain a lot of confidence.

I have upgraded the swivels to a size bigger, and to a different type (nicer/more expensive) and they turn much nicer after being poured around.
