SKSlide
So I know this isn't technically a swimbait but I guess you would put it in the smaller wakebait category. I wanted to get a new topwater/treble hook rod for this year that would throw samller 5/8 oz topwaters and up to 1oz or so. Small mice and rats, small wakes including the Buzzjet and Buzzjet jr. What would be a decent rod to cover this without breaking the bank. I was looking at the 733C Fury, The Irod Spook/Trap rod, maybe one of the Powell Infernos. But open to sugggestions. Thank you! Ceaser
The regular buzzjet doesnt have the biggest or strongest hooks. Great bait, I use a heavy cranking rod to throw it or a moderate flipping stick/frog rod. never had any problems SKSlide, JR Basser and Good Year 71
MA Frog Man
I use a crankbait rod also. I believe it's a 6'8" skeet Reese or something like that. Glass rod for those trebles. I have broken off points on trebles on that bait. Great bait though SKSlide and bigpoppabass
brushhawg1
I use 7ft med heavy St. Croix crank bait stick. I have had to change hooks on the jr. After quite a few fish, they are sticky but weak. SKSlide
bigpoppabass
Yes as others have said mod action rod. Fiberglass works. Baits needs to load up. I spent two years figuring this out. I was unable to keep fish on before then. I happened to have a custom rod that fit the bill. I rarely miss fish now. Buy replacement hooks too...If u don't know the key with bait is a slack line retrieve that creates a squeak u can hear. Go slow. Paul Arendtsen
I use a NRX 843 and have had no problems keeping fish attached. But it is the MBR series so its not extra fast. SKSlide
