  1. Won this bullshad from @Jstew75 a few months back, been fishing it off and on since with a few bites. Finally connected with one after a 3lber missed it 3 separate times on one cast. Was stoked to get this one even though it was small

  2. So i recently purchased a 16' John Dory that I've been busting my hump on getting it to a place where i can say i'm happy with the boat. We took it out to a local bay to try for some saltwater bass (calico/barred/spotted) but the gas hose assembly on the hose and gas tank were no longer working (wouldn't stay attached, previous owner had the wrong set) so now we were SOL. While we were noticing the problem and trying to figure something out i casted parallel to the dock (While my friend continued on checking the gas tank) and this beauty of a halibut smashed the gill swimming it on the bottom! I thought it was a bass until it pulled some drag and showed itself. She measured out to 24-25" Thanks for the opportunity!@danthefisherman

  3. Got this thinking I would have it painted crappie but I like the shad pattern a lot.

  4. I’ve got a baby boy due in a few weeks so I’ll be dismantling my rod building stuff to make room for the added head count in the house. All my personal stuff has pretty solid use of neon and I couldn’t decide what to use for my last rod so I figured I may as well use all of them. Used a Phenix Hybrid 888mh blank and it should be good for baits up to 3 or 4 oz. the main purpose will be for launching my UFO wake around. Fuji titanium guides and G2 carbon grips. Pretty much threw the kitchen sink at it.

  8. Not a fan at all of my 8’6” Bailey. Stiff as a board to the tip. Dobyns are 20% off at sportsmans outfitters. Get an 867 and never have to upgrade again in your life

  9. I would say a Daiwa DX extra heavy from TW for $99 would get you going. My Irods are all falling apart, not so much a fan anymore...

  13. Today was the first day in a while it wasn’t over 90 after lunch. Went down to the river just to play around with some Tk’s. Caught this gaunt summer bass in glide mode with some weight strips to suspend/xxxs rise. I’ve found it helps keep my tk from porpoising in current. 22.5”

  19. Nothing huge.... I’m still trying to figure out bigger baits and trying new things. The sly fish went 3.04 and the mouse fish went 2.86. First time night fishing with mouse baits. None the less, swimbait fish and an absolute blast!

Concentrated my lineup using MECE principal and this is the result - many profiles and styles that can all be thrown on a single rod (2oz-3.5oz).

  25. I've waited months for these baits only to sell them. I need money to fund my other hobbies so the bait and reel has to go. Pm me offers on the UFO. As for the reel its a tranxs 300hg with some old maxima. Great reel that I bought second hand. I used it a few times and I never had an issue with it. $185 f&f or add fees. I can provide detailed pictures upon request on bait and reel.

  42. This. A quality rod makes a HUGE difference when throwing bigger baits and will be way worth the extra cost. I know because I've been there. If you are patient and keep looking you can score an 867 for a decent price.

  45. Another good fish on the Scout I do own other baits and throw them, a lot, but this is what's working now so I'm staying with it! And I've got a Promar net coming this week, this Ego net isn't deep enough. Crockett 6.mp4

Very nice! The two mismatched willow blades for the tail on the 2 piece is a cool idea for sure.

  47. Braved the smoke to finally get out on the water by kayak today, and I'm glad I did! It was a tough bite. I hooked into a nice bass on the straight resin prototype but it went airborne and shook off. Then I spent half an hour trying to unsnag the bait from a buoy in strong current. Even the conventional baits I was throwing occasionally weren't getting bit. Towards the end of the day (about 9-10 hours later), my arms were aching from throwing the crankdown so much. I tied my yak to a post at a new spot and brought out the finesse baits to catch crappie. I caught one nice slab and put it in the net to take home for dinner. The sun was going down so I started to clean up my yak and put baits away. I grabbed my swimbait setup and thought to myself, "Might as well take one more cast." First cast with the red craw crankdown and I get railed by a twelve incher. What a way to end the day! Love those last-cast bass. Took a few more casts to calm down...and my bait stops dead ten feet from the boat. I set the hook into a solid bass and somehow manage to dump my crappie and get her in the net. She only weighed 4.5lbs but is my biggest swimbait fish weighed and my heaviest bass for this year. My day sure turned around quick. I may have lost my dinner but it was worth it. Also I need a bigger net
