  3. Quick Sunday morning bank session with the 6" battleshad. Most of my soft bait bites are just taps.. But this bite was unmistakable. She absolutely tried to slaughter the battleshad and I swung for the fences!

  8. Swimbait Review: Throwback Wake Walker The WakeWalker by Throwback Baits is a 3 piece resin Wake n Crank gill profile, with speed and rod control determining the action and diving depth of the bait. The Wake Walker comes in at 2.75 ounces, and is 7", including a soft rubber tail and swiveling hook hangers. The straight retrieve at a moderate slow speed will produce a stable and fluid waking action, with back and forth head knock, as the other segments slither behind. The soft tail adds additional back and forth motion, and the bait rocks back and forth only slightly. I found the bait to be stable, with a fast startup of action. The Wake itself is subtle but noticeable, and becomes more aggressive and noisy with additional speed. There is a slight bulge ahead of the bait, and a V wake created behind. With additional speed, rod tip position will determine depth. At a moderate retrieve with rod tip down, the bait will crank down 2-3 feet, with a similar but slightly wider head knock as the bait assumes a nose-down orientation. The bait also displays a controlled rock back and forth along its horizontal axis. Again, the soft tail adds additional swimming motion. With the same speed and the rod tip up, the bait becomes a more aggressive Wake as described above. Faster still, the bait will both fast Wake and burn at the surface with the rod tip up. I found that once the line was completely out of the water, I could then lower the rod top to be pointed directly at the bait, and it would maintain its topwater action. These faster speeds produce a chop on the water, with significant noise and commotion, along with a wake, bulge, and bubble trail. Dropping the rod tip down again, you can crank the bait down and then input subtle twitches to get the bait to turn or walk under water. Make sure to slow some slack so the bait has the ability to turn. I found the bait would maintain depth while employing this technique, and maintained its depth as long as the pauses weren't long. Last, I was able to walk the bait by using a non traditional retrieve. Instead of having the rod tip down, I utilized twitches to the side or even in an upwards manner to get the bait walking back and forth. The key is to get the line completely out of the water for this retrieve. The walk can be either subtle or aggressive, and the plastic tail throws a bit of splash as it sharply turns I either direction. I threw the Wake Walker on a Levaithan custom 7 ft 9 Heavy, paired with a Curado 300 and 20 lb copoly. Any MH-H rod in that 7 ft 9- 8 ft range would suffice as the bait is fairly lightweight. Line wise, mono or braid would be just fine, or fluro can be utilized if you are more focused on the crank down. Thanks for watching/reading, hope you enjoyed. See ya next Sunday.

  21. Its rated 1/2 to 4 oz which is way off in my experience. At 2.5 oz to 4 oz the rod really lights up for me, at 1 to 2 oz range it will work but thats not the sweet spot for me. I threw the klash 9 on it today and it was incredible- I haven’t thrown anything over 4 on it yet but guys say it easily handles 5.

  23. after a few missed bites last season on the citizen i got some great advice after i posted here which has helped me turned almost every hit into a landed fish think of it like a frog, when you feel that thud, give it a second or two, then swing for the fences. i was always pulling the bait out of their faces before they had it down enough use some sort of bait scent, which does two things, gives the fish a longer bite window and allows the bait/hook to slide better so less damage to the bait and better hooksets. I makde sure to fill the hook slot with it and along the weight and along the top, i use the bass dynasty scents but use whatever you want another tip thats helped was from Mikes video about putting the tungsten nails in the fins of the bait which helps the bait run leveler and keeps it down, also made a huge improvement on landing fish. i like fishing mine how you mentioned, also here in NE (RI & MA) along weed lines and thru holes/cut outs in the weeds, ive had a decent amount of luck pitching it into openings in the weedline as well. fun bait to fish especially once you start hammering fish on em.

    Transfer Tail

Had a few minutes to try out the new transfer tail on a TK and Klash 9 - put simply it’s definitely worth the money as it makes the bait so much more versatile than it already is. I fished both baits using braid to 20# mono leader and with Decoy egg snaps - both baits were fished with no lip and the lip in mode B ( tips of tail pointer down ). I did fish them briefly in mode B with the standard lips and initially it does seem to dive deeper but my home lake has such poor visibility I couldn’t see what the bait was doing. When I get more time I’ll test it with the lip in in a clear water lake. I have lead golfers tape on both baits as shown in the pics to get the bait to suspend. Burn and pause is amazing - on the pause the bait glides out nicely fairly wide and doesn’t blow out on the burn. Dead walk - the bait stays level and almost pivots on it own axis with small 1/2 to half turns of the reel handle. Jerk Bait Style - no lip tail in mode b is really awesome. The head of the bait dives down to the left or right and slowly floats back up - definitely looks like a dying bait fish to me. If you snap the rod to hard the front hook will foul on the leader. Glide Mode - no lip and tail in mode b - the TK and K 9 definitely seem to glide a lot nicer than with the standard tail. The tail seems to have a better effect on the K9 over the TK not that it’s bad on the TK but on the K9 it’s pretty amazing to me During my Mini test session I was burning and pausing the K9 past a lily pad patch and a really solid fish came out of the pads and crushed the bait on the pause as it was gliding out - when I tried to flip the fish up a 4’ bank I dropped him - bummed as it would have been my first K9 fish. Mixed retrieve - burn / pause, dead walk and jerk bait style is really awesome. Finally, @BassInterceptor posted some video footage on his IG page of the TK with transfer tail.

  36. Got out with the boat today (while I still can, boat ramps closing in 2 weeks due to low water level), and got a decent one on the baby wake. I missed a few more blowups also. This bait has impressed me, never gotten skunked when using it. Got another couple dinks on the TK, but nothing photo worthy. It got super windy early, so only had a couple hours to fish

  38. Save yourself some bucks, there’s tons of info out there and many utoob vids on how to clean, maintain and tune up reels. Don’t be intimidated by it, it’s easier than it looks and after only a few reels you’ll be good to go, only very basic tools are needed.

  42. Oh yeah I grew up as a deathcore kid but I listen to pretty much everything. Metal will always have a special place in my heart. My current music taste has been grindcore and beat down slam. Necrotic Gorebeast is my fave band at the moment. All I can say is pig squeals are so 2000s its all about the bullfrog vocals theses days. But for real I'm glad there's a genre of music where the whole point of the vocalist. Is trying to so like a demonic Pig being attacked by a pack of demonistic velociraptors/a competition on who can make the most craziest sound / noise.
