New PB in Portugal
ChaseEmToTheBank and 8 others reacted to mcaetano2905 for a topic
Caught my new PB today! My previous PB was 5.07lb caught on January 2002. The fish I caught today was 6.24lb and 22.2" long! This is a northern strain fish and a giant in my country (Portugal). Caught it on a Savage Gear Glide Swimmer 205 in the place on the lake that I thought was the best for big fish: a secondary point (but with deeper water near the bank than any main lake points in this lake) with huge boulders on it, some sparse weeds and it has deep water access. Classical spot. Ahah My first fish on this bait. I want to thank Jesse Hall (mossypumpkin) for all the tips and for telling me to buy a Glide Swimmer 205!9 points -
Anyone else keep fish? I have a 120 gallon community tank with a breeding pair of Neolamprologus Helianthus who just had their first set of fry congo tetras, giant danios, rainbow fish,Black and Koi anglefish, bumble bee catfish, Kuhuli Loaches a zig zag eel, and blue rams and im planning on adding discus in the next two weeks once they get out of quarintine. lets see your setups!9 points

Figured I'd share this cool story about this baits journey. I purchased this 316 OG Wake that @SPEEDBEADhad converted to a glide back in 2014. Wayne had spent a lot of time weighting/tuning it and swam great. Think it was bone/white when I got it. After I got it, I cleaned up the hook rash, lip slot, joint area and weighted areas, and I sent it off to @pizz for a repaint. Color from referenced from a pic of a wild juvi rainbow trout from a backwoods stream in RI. Bait came back in April of 2015 and looked amazing, think i fished it a few times but never really gave it the time it deserved, was too into surfcasting for stripers that season. I sold it locally to another RI swimbait tosser, later in 2015. He sold it at some point, then it was resold 2x and @asohozaended up with it. I don't think anyone fished besides him based on how great of condition it was still after 5 seasons. I had seen it in a pic he posted with his other 316 collections, I had reached out about it and just thought it was cool it surfaced back up. He ended up posting it for sale on the Black Market and I grabbed it to fish it this season. I threw some hooks on it and found some open water to see it swim again. Bait has a cool slow side to side swim, and the joint will knock if you give it a good twitch, otherwise its quiet, sinks level, super cool bait mod and stoked to have it back and give it its fair share of time in the water this season.2 points -
First late night session for 2020 and the falling star I seen 30 minutes ago has brought me luck. Casting my trusty 6 inch citizen off a nice steep rocky bank netted me this 8lb 12 oz beautiful fish. I was counting down to hit bottom as this fish inhaled it. What a great feeling and thanks to the people from this forum along with the wealth of knowledge found here. I'm calling it a night and headed home on a good note. Peace!2 points

Anyone else entering a bait into it? 123 builders/fly tiers/bait makers signed up. All builders have to use the custom designed eyes supplied by Deadmeat Customs. I really like the way they’re going to do the judging now too. Will be a private panel of 5 judges (They will be not disclosed, 6th judge to break a tie) that way it’s not a popularity contest. Which is great cause some of these other builders have like 20K-40K followers! I have a bait in the works, something I had an idea for and have been quietly working on it, it’s a bait I already make with a couple twists to it. Tied the matching hooks for it tonight, have to paint and epoxy the threads but you get the idea. anyone else from the SU Grassroots entered?2 points

My wife decided we need a new couch. My loss is your gain. Will ship on Monday. Make me some offers guys! Pizz quad Shadley is a slow sink, sport shad is a floater. All baits are new. And yes, a part of my soul is dying right now while I post baits for sale and my wife is picking out fabric. Haha thanks everyone and SU1 point -
SU Family, Over the last month or so all of you have really help the Estrada Family so much through the baits we've sold and the money you all have raised. I still have a ton of stuff that needs to be moved and some of those things are not really worth selling. I have a lot of soft baits that just are not really worth selling and trying to ship. Its nothing great but something that someone else can enjoy. So here is what I would like to do....... *** Please post on this thread of someone you think that this lot should go to and it cant be for yourself. Highly encourage you tag younger swimbaiters. I'll give it till (Sunday Night at 6pm PST). I will ask his wife to pick someone. I will probably toss a few other things in there. Please have shipping information available for the person you tag.1 point

Sweet ride! I would get a recessed foot tub soon, made a word of difference on my back and hips. Can you get your big rods in the rod locker? I drilled the far end of mine and can get 8 footers in it now. Champions are great fishin' boats!!1 point -

Reviving this build for the 2020 SU Bait Swap and need opinions: scales or no scales? I'm absolutely torn between the two but don't want to have to mold the bait twice. Your opinion is greatly appreciated, thanks!1 point -

Figured I'd add mine in here since I'm sure alot of you guys haven't seen one since they are a locally made boat. It's a 10 foot by 3 foot by 1.5 ish tall. (Guestimating, don't remember exact dimensions) with a 76lb thrust Minnesota Kota controlled by foot pedals (ALOT faster than you'd think and will last several full days on a full battery) with a live well. I fitted mine out how I liked it with a diy pulley Anchor and made a crate to fit my needs. Only thing I don't have is a graph, helix 9 is in the process. Here's a walk around video I welded up a cart to launch it down the boat ramp when I'm just by myself at the lake, but I fully restored (it was in rough shape) an old double jetski trailer I had for when me and my dad or buddy go together we don't have to cram 2 in the bed of my truck. The other boat in the trailer pic is the 2 man version of this boat, it's 3 foot longer with an added seat infront of the live well, alot more spacious then you'd think. I got tired of paddling kayaks so I got into creekboats, will never go back.1 point
