  1. I am new to fishing swimbaits. (started about a year ago) I am curious to have imput and see what yall have to say about some questions i have. First comes rod which i decided on my own which is the G lommis 966c IMX pro. Next is reel which i havent decided on. I am looking at the shimano tranx 300A and the Daiwa tatula 300 and im not sure which is better. I want strong, proven, reliablity, and finally casting distance. The next question then becomes Gear ratio which i know is all according to spool size and otherthings so i am really looking at the inches per turn (ipt). Its either the Tranx 300 5.8(30ipt) Tranx 300 7.6(39ipt) or the Daiwa tatula 300 5.3(28.1ipt) tatula 300 6.3(33.5ipt) or the tatula 300 7.1(37.6ipt)? Finally comes Line brand, line type, and line size. I am all ears and want feedback on everything. The baits i will be throwing will be in the 6.5 inch to the biggest for now being a deps 250 slide swimmer.
  2. So I’m buying a 908 to throw a Deadtwitch, 10” hudds, and big glides like the mother. I’ve been reading forums for like a week trying to decide if I could get away with one of my lexa or Tatula 300s spooled with 25lb mono would that work for this setup? Or should I try to get a lexa 400 and run 30lb?
  3. Hello SU. I just got into swimbait fishing this past year and I've been throwing the S-Waver 168, 6'' Magdraft, and Sneaky Pete 5.75'' on my 7'2 Med Hvy SLX casting rod paired with an SLX DC with 17lb fluoro. I know that this rod isn't meant to throw baits this big and I plan to throw slightly larger baits in the 2oz - 3oz weight. I have decided to go with the Dobyns Fury 795 SB rod since I don't plan on throwing anything heavier than 3oz. I'm just not sure about what reel to pair with it and what lb line to spool it with. If you guys have any recommendations for a reel under $200 and line to spool it with that would be awesome!
  4. Do any of you guys have experience with Izorline xxx? I know that as a co-poly line it should land somewhere in between flourocarbon and mono. But what does this mean specifically? Does it still sink like flourocarbon? Does it stretch a lot? I have been looking for cheap but reliable flourocarbon to fish hardbaits. I know that the Izorline xxx isn't technically flourocarbon, but am still wondering how it compares to a true 100% flouro.
  5. I recently casted off a deps 250 and a hinkle trout due to my knots failing I tie a Palomar which I know isn’t the best for floro but up until now it has never failed me I am really interested to see what others tie for big swimbaits Btw I use Seaguar Tatsu so the line wasn’t the issue

  7. Hey guys, haven't seen much up here on this. Wondering if anyone has tried it? Mixed reviews on all tackle sites - ranging from garbage don't waste your money to best braid ever. Hoping for some first hand knowledge from the community...thanks guys Posted in flipside the first time by accident like a dummy
  8. Looking to buy a right hand shimano tranx 400 size. Also, a dobyns 806 swimbait rod and deps 175.
  9. These are the newer slim shad line thru versions. They are 7.5" and brand new. Looking for $200 obo. PM only if you're are serious. No dumb low offers please. Also no trades unless you got some 6" Burrito Baits shads. I need the money more then the bait trade so don't be mad if I don't take a trade offer.
  10. I'm new to throwing large swimbaits, just bought a deps 250 and have seen more big fish come look at this thing then I've ever seen before. Was fortunate enough to get an opportunity see Butch Brown at the Fred Hall Show, was impressed/inspired to try and give this a huge swimbait thing a shot as well. This website and forum have been super informative. My current issue is with this lure breaking off. I've never invested as much in a lure in my life, I've gone swimming/wading for this thing 3 times in 3 days. 1) Snagged on a marker Buoy chain, dove down to get it. 2) Snapped my fluro leader, luckily in shallow/clear water 3) Upgraded my leader to 20 Lbs Fluro, snapped at the knot and went deep into tullies, I waded in after it and thank god found it. I had my leader tied to 80 Lbs Krazen braid, am now only confident in tying it straight to my braid but assume big fish see my line? I'm now less focused on fishing well and more nervous about losing $150-$175 lure. All my breaks have occurred on Fluro, it's all new, used seguar 12 Lbs and pline 20 lbs? knots are palomar and this other one I found on the internet, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE3OXADeadw. Any advice would be great, thank you for your time.
  11. How heavy of line to avoid being bit off by toothy critters? Where I fish we have big northerns and muskies, I would like to throw my big expensive baits without worrying about being bit off. What pound test line would you recommend to help avoid bite offs by toothy critters? Thanks!
